Manage Personal Karma and Corporate Karma
Manage Personal Karma and Corporate Karma
Personal Karma and Corporate Karma let you automatically donate to Expensify.org based on qualifying spending. Personal Karma is based on the expenses you create in your own account, while Corporate Karma is based on approved company spending across your workspaces. Although both programs use the same donation model, they’re managed separately and donations are calculated independently for each program.

Who can manage Personal Karma and Corporate Karma
Any member can manage Personal Karma for their own account.
Only the workspace owner can manage Corporate Karma because donations are charged to the payment card used for the Expensify subscription.
Before you can enable either program, you must have a valid payment card on file. To learn how to add one, see Add or Update a Payment Card.
How to enable or disable Personal Karma
- In the navigation tabs (on the left on web, on the bottom on mobile), go to Account.
- Select Save the world.
- In the Enable Personal Karma section, turn Personal Karma on or off.
- Add a payment card if prompted.
How to manage Corporate Karma
Corporate Karma is managed in Expensify Classic and can’t be configured in New Expensify. To enable or disable Corporate Karma, see Setting Up Karma Donations.
What happens after you enable Personal Karma or Corporate Karma
Both Personal Karma and Corporate Karma use the same donation model. For every $500 in qualifying spending, $1 is donated to Expensify.org. Donation totals are calculated separately for each program at the end of every month.
Every donation is automatically assigned to an Expensify.org fund based on the Merchant Category Code (MCC) associated with each qualifying expense. You can’t choose which fund receives your donation.
Expensify.org supports five fund categories:
- Climate Justice
- Food Security
- Housing Equity
- Reentry Services
- Youth Advocacy
To learn more about these funds, visit Expensify.org Funding.
After the monthly donation is calculated, Expensify charges the payment card associated with the enabled Karma program. The donation is charged separately from your subscription, and you’ll receive a donation receipt after each successful charge.

Why do my Personal Karma and Corporate Karma donations have different amounts?
