How to Fix the XERO52 Export Error

Follow the steps below to confirm accounts and recategorize expenses.

Confirm Expense Accounts in Xero

  1. Log in to Xero.
  2. Go to Settings > Chart of Accounts.
  3. Confirm that all expense accounts used in the Workspace:
    • Exist.
    • Are active.
    • Are set to Expense type.
    • Have Show in Expense Claims enabled.
  4. If an account is missing or inactive:
    • Create or reactivate the expense account.
    • Enable Show in Expense Claims.
    • Click Save.

Sync the Workspace in Expensify

After updating accounts in Xero:

  1. Go to Settings > Workspaces.
  2. Select your Workspace.
  3. Click Accounting.
  4. Click Sync Now.

This refreshes the imported Xero accounts.

Categorize or Recategorize the Expenses

  1. Open the report that failed to export.
  2. Identify any expenses flagged with a red violation.
  3. Select a valid, active Xero account as the category.
  4. Click Save.

Every expense on the report must have a valid Xero category.

Retry the Export

  1. Open the report.
  2. Retry exporting to Xero.

If all expenses are properly categorized with active Xero accounts, the export should complete successfully.
