Is Expensify only for big/small companies?

We're for everyone! It's true Expensify counts as customers many public and even Fortune 500 companies (see here for few notable examples). However, the vast majority of our tens of thousands of customers are very small businesses with just a handful of employees. Additionally, we have millions of users who use Expensify for free as individuals. The common theme is Expensify is for anybody who loves their employees -- even if they're only self-employed.

What is SmartScan and what's the big deal about it?

Ahh, SmartScan is the bread-and-butter of Expensify and where the magic begins! Our patented Optical Character Recognition technology allows your employees to snap a picture of a receipt (or email it to receipts@expensify.com) which will automatically generate an expense using the merchant, date, and amount. Toss that receipt and forget about it. Your work is done.

Is there any way to "turn off" the magic? 

We pride ourselves on offering the most automated experience possible, where you remain complete control over every aspect -- but we just do it for you. However, we also support more "classic" modes of operation where you do everything yourself: each automated feature is optional, and you can mix-and-match to suit.

Does Expensify work with my accounting software?

Expensify integrates directly with a number of accounting solutions: Netsuite, QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Intacct, and Xero. We can also help build a custom integration to fit any other accounting package your company uses.
